Inserting countdown timers into your Google search ads is a great way to quickly and dynamically communicate to people:

1) What offers you’re running
2) When they end

Incorporating that time scarcity into your ads is also a great way to compel people to take action before it’s too late.

After all, the primary function for ads is simply to get people to click. Once they’re on your landing page, it’ll be up to that page to convert them.

Two other great dynamic features for Google search ads are dynamic keyword insertion and dynamic location insertion.

Hey this is Riley from Main Street ROI
0:08
and our mission is to help small
0:10
businesses with their digital marketing
0:12
so today’s Main Street marketing tip has
0:15
to do with countdown timers so if you
0:18
run promos and um if you run certain
0:21
events that have an end date then uh and
0:24
you run Google search ads then this
0:26
video is for you so this is one of the
0:28
dynamic features in Google ads and um
0:32
unfortunately it’s a really
0:33
underutilized tool so I’m going to show
0:36
you how to do that now so I’m going to
0:38
demo account and um I have our our
0:41
search campaign selected here I’m on the
0:43
ads tab I’m going to click this blue
0:46
icon to create a responsive search
0:51
ad and um this would be for for example
0:54
a dentist and let’s say they’re running
0:56
an offer for 20% off teeth white
1:03
name and um there’s an end date let’s
1:06
say the end of the year so let’s do
1:09
special
1:11
ends in and so this is where we would do
1:16
a squiggly bracket and it’s going to
1:18
open up a drop- down menu with a few
1:20
different Dynamic options so we have
1:23
keyword insertion and uh Dynamic
1:25
location insertion both really helpful
1:28
underutilized tools and we have separate
1:30
videos for those so I’m going to link
1:32
those in the description below but
1:34
specifically today what I’m talking
1:35
about is the countdown timer feature so
1:37
I’m going to select
1:39
countdown and let’s say it ends December
1:44
31st end of
1:46
day and we’ll start the countdown
1:50
timer in 31
1:56
days so um I want to make sure that
1:59
these you know that this language
2:00
appears in every ad so let’s say I’m
2:02
going to pin this headline to the first
2:04
position this headline to the second so
2:07
now I have an ad that’s showing 20 20%
2:10
off teeth whitening and special ends in
2:13
you know the number of days so what’s
2:15
really nice about this is that that
2:17
number of days will dynamically change
2:19
as we approach the end of this
2:22
countdown and um you know there’s
2:24
nothing that you need to do you you set
2:26
this up you know you don’t have to go in
2:28
and change the ads so it’s all dynamic
2:30
and um also when you get to the last day
2:33
it’ll switch to hours so it’ll count
2:35
down the number of hours left so you
2:38
know really powerful
2:40
tool um there is also an asset type for
2:44
this promotion asset or extension but
2:47
specifically if you’re running search
2:48
campaigns this is how you would insert
2:50
that same idea into your search um
2:54
headlines or descriptions so I hope you
2:56
found this video helpful if you have any
2:58
questions please reach out
3:00
um we love helping small businesses with
3:02
their digital marketing and we also
3:03
partner with other agencies to serve
3:06
their small business clients so uh at
3:08
the end of this video there is a link
3:10
for a Google ads checklist it’s got a
3:13
lot of helpful Tools in there lot of lot
3:15

3:18
comprehensive and it’s free so be sure
3:20
to check that out so yeah I hope this
3:22
video was helpful and with that I’ll see
3:24
you guys in the next
3:28
