Every month, we feature a member of our team here at Main Street ROI. This month, we’re featuring our Lead Content Writer, Lisa Fritscher.
How did you get into writing and marketing?
I actually fell into writing by accident. I had recently returned to Orlando, where I grew up, from New Orleans, and I needed a job. I answered a Craigslist ad for someone to write about the local theme parks. Since I grew up with annual passes and worked at the parks while I was in school, I thought I might be good at it. One job led to the next, and I have been in the field ever since.
I got into marketing as a natural outgrowth of my writing career. I had a few writing clients that paid me based on pageviews. The more eyeballs I was able to draw to my web pages, the more money I made each month. So I sat down and learned how to market my work. I soon discovered that I enjoyed marketing, and was thrilled when the opportunity to join Main Street ROI presented itself. I am learning and growing every day, and putting every lesson to good use in helping our clients succeed.
What do you like most about working with small business clients?
My degree is in clinical psychology, and I have always had a passion for helping people to become the best, most successful versions of themselves. I love that this position allows me to expand on that passion by helping small businesses to grow and develop real success. I like that instead of assisting one individual at a time, my efforts are now going towards small groups, ultimately allowing me to help more people.
What do you like most about working at Main Street ROI?
I love that Main Street ROI fosters open communication, personal accountability, and cross-divisional work groups. If I have a question or an issue, I can approach anyone in the company by email or phone, and response times are incredibly quick — always within 24 hours, and often in less than an hour! I feel like our company leaders go out of their way to make sure everyone feels heard, valued, and respected, and are always happy to step in and clarify any confusion.
I also love that Main Street ROI is dedicated to training. We have internal training sessions as needed, and are encouraged to join or review external client training meetings. Our clients are provided with all the tools needed to build and develop their own successful marketing plans. Empowering both clients and staff is highly rewarding for everyone involved.
What do you like to do outside of the office?
I spent 10 years traveling the country in an RV with my retired father, seeing both the well-known tourist destinations and the tiny little off-the-beaten-path alternatives. We came off the road about a year ago, but continue to travel together frequently. He’s an amazing photographer, and is definitely my favorite travel buddy!
I am also an avid reader and gamer. When I’m not out seeing the real world, I love being immersed in worlds of fantasy or historical fiction. Along the same lines, I am passionate about the theater, whether performing or watching, and I may have a slight obsession with all things Halloween.
What marketing trend are you most excited about for small businesses (and why)?
I am super excited about the possibilities associated with social media. I feel like we have only begun to scratch the surface, and it is a platform that lets small businesses truly compete with the big guys. Regardless of budget, if you are able to make a splash on social media, you will go viral, and you will have your chance to prove yourself on a global scale.
