Every month, we feature a member of our team here at Main Street ROI. This month, we’re featuring our Content Marketing Manager, Kate Lombardo.
How did you get into digital marketing?
I’ve always been interested in the way digital marketing can help grow businesses. After majoring in communication in college, I spent a number of years working as a teacher while continuing to do digital marketing work on the side. I ultimately decided to follow my passion and make it a full time career.
What do you like most about working with small business clients?
I think my favorite thing about working with small businesses is the connection formed in truly helping a business to grow. Small businesses are truly a labor of love, with people giving everything they have to make them successful. I find it tremendously rewarding to see a small business owner be able to realize their dreams and goals when their business reaches success.
What do you like most about working at Main Street ROI?
I love that Main Street is run by real people who care about the work we’re doing. Our entire team (like – for real, everyone!) brings a positive attitude not only to the work for our clients, but to internal work as well. Working for a company where every person on the team is truly invested in helping our clients and our business grow is awesome. Rather than looking at challenges as negatives, we work together to brainstorm ways to overcome them. Each day is exciting and different.
Coming from an education background, I also love that Main Street offers trainings and tools for small businesses to learn how to better help themselves. The reality is, not every small business has the budget to pay an agency to manage their digital marketing. We offer tools and resources that help businesses create marketing plans with solid foundations which will ultimately put them in the best position to take their business to the next level. There’s empowerment in education and I love that we offer that as an option.
What do you like to do outside of the office?
My biggest passion outside of the office is definitely yoga. I started practice about 7 years ago and was hooked on how healthy and strong it made me feel — both physically and mentally. In 2014 I started training to become a teacher and now, I teach weekly classes and workshops in Hoboken, NJ and do marketing work for a studio in town, Devotion Yoga. I’m so grateful for the community I’ve become a part of. It was actually a connection I made through yoga with MSROI team member Morgan, that brought me to Main Street. The power of people and connection is so amazing, and I love that yoga celebrates that. You can check out my website katelombardoyoga.com or my instagram @katelombardoyoga for more info and to follow my various yoga adventures and tips.
After yoga, I love traveling, cooking and eating good food, and tasting good wine. My husband and I were fortunate enough to take a 16-day trip to Italy this summer and I just can’t wait to go back. I love learning about other cultures and meeting all types of people. The photo below is a shot from us at a rooftop restaurant in Florence where I ate one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life.
What advertising trend are you most excited about for small businesses (and why)?
I love image- and video-based platforms. They allow businesses to express their creativity and show followers what they’re really about. I love that a business can post a YouTube Video of 15-second Instagram clip and give the world a behind-the-scenes look at their world. It makes the connection feel much more personal.
