hi everyone it’s Phil Frost from Main
0:03
Street Roi and today we’re going to
0:05
share a really quick tip for Google ads
0:07
location targeting Now location
0:09
targeting should be simple but Google is
0:12
a little bit tricky with their default
0:13
settings you see by default Google’s
0:15
location targeting allows your ads to be
0:18
displayed to people who are not actually
0:20
in the locations you want to Target I
0:22
know that sounds crazy but it’s actually
0:23
true
0:24
and today our ad analyst Riley is going
0:27
to show you how to change the default
0:28
settings to ensure your ads only show to
0:31
the Right audience
0:33
hey this is Riley with Main Street Roi
0:36
and today’s tip is going to be about
0:37
location targeting so when you create a
0:39
campaign in Google ads you have to
0:40
choose location targets where your ads
0:42
will show and if you aren’t careful and
0:45
you didn’t choose this particular
0:46
setting then you may be getting
0:47
International Impressions which is you
0:50
know costing you money needlessly so
0:52
it’s a unfortunately kind of a hidden
0:54
setting and we want to make sure that
0:56
you don’t have that selected so this
0:58
actually has to be set at the individual
1:00
campaign level so what you’ll do is
1:02
you’ll select on an individual campaign
1:05
and go down to settings
1:08
so then you’ll hit locations here and
1:10
then a second drop down
1:14
and this is the default setting that
1:16
that Google has selected so presence or
1:19
interest so just by virtue of having
1:21
shown interest in your targeted location
1:23
Google may show your ads to that person
1:26
and we don’t want to do that so you’ll
1:29
select presence here and hit save
1:31
and then if you’d actually like to see
1:33
what locations your ads have shown in
1:34
you’ll come up here to reports
1:38
and go to custom table
1:42
and type in location
1:48
and I also like to add
1:50
Impressions and clicks
1:54
but
1:57
as you can see this account at least for
2:00
this date range has not shown any
2:02
International Impressions it’s just
2:04
shown impressions in the United States
2:06
so this is a very important setting to
2:08
check and I’m often too easily missed so
2:12
um yeah I hope you found this helpful if
2:14
you have any questions about your Google
2:16
ads or need any help please reach out to
2:17
us this is what we do and we want to
2:19
help so with that I’ll see you at the
2:22
next tip
